Boboli Gardens

This morning, I was off to visit the Boboli Gardens. They are a 111 acre garden attached to a palace owned by the Medici family in the 15th century. It was big, lavish, (hot), but offered some lovely views. There were a lot of statues, pool/fountains and few flowers. You could walk for days along different pathways and never see the same thing. Apparently, no outsiders were allowed to visit the gardens (back in the 15th century), nor were there any parties given in the gardens!
The palace itself-Pitti palace.

This was the amphitheater!

The statue of Neptune, complete with a blue heron hat.

A grotto in the garden!

The roof of the grotto.

Lemons and oranges.

So lavish, it was hard to believe one family had that much money!
On our way back, saw this guy walking with an accordion strapped to his back...rather iconic!
