Four days on the ocean

I am posting these pictures after I am back...oh well, in case anyone is interested. We had an awesome time!
The view from our hotel in Campbell River.
We’ve arrived! After a 2.5 hour boat ride on the Johnson Straight.
Our home for the next 3 nights!
Our beach...low tide, then high tide.
Some paddling pictures, note the fog!

We paddled to a different beach and then hiked to these falls.
After kayaking...a soak in the wood fired hot tub, overlooking the ocean.
After the hot tub, a quick dip in the brisk mountain stream.

 Beautiful sunsets, at 10 o’clock!

We had fun watching fishing boats, yachts, cruise ships, sea lions, porpoises, etc.

Our first view of the orcas.

A fabulous experience!

On to our next adventure

Well, our next adventure begins. We picked up my mom and sister this morning at Vancouver’s airport. Then, we took the ferry to Vancouver Island.

We landed in Nanaimo, where it was Ella’s wish to eat a Nanaimo bar. After two closed bakeries later, we found some yummy ones!

This is the view from our room in Campbell River!
Tomorrow morning, we get picked up at the harbour on the right for four days of sea kayaking and “glamping “! Meanwhile, Tim and Ella have started on their way home!

Vancouver Highlights

We spent our last day in Vancouver by going to the aquarium, Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
Saw lots at the aquarium, including some of these handsome sea lions.
This was taken from the sea wall in Stanley Park.

Touching the Pacific!

The big cruise ships in front of the dock I had taken a photo of last night.
Gardens within beautiful Stanley Park...we saw 5 weddings!

Vancouver harbour

Then, off to the suspension bridge.

It was scary!

This was the cliff walk, a semi circular walk over a large canyon!

As we are off to Campbell River, this may be the last post for a while as service will be limited.

Travel day number 2

Well, the blood has resumed flowing to my hands...I was white knuckling it for much of our drive this morning! The drive from Kelowna to Vancouver (along the Coquihalla highway-made famous by the “Highway through Hell” show) is insane! It was up and down mountains and around corners...and had a speed limit of 120 km/hour!!! We were driving the speed limit and had lots of vehicles passing us, including tractor trailers by times! Otherwise, the drive was uneventful. There were some low clouds, but we didn’t see smoke.

Never a good sign when they have “runaway lanes”!
We stopped in Hope for lunch. I figured it was called that as everyone just “hoped” they made it!

We didn’t see Stallone anywhere...just this guy!
We made it to Vancouver!
We rented a small condo. It is in a brand new building, very nice, but cozy! Here is our view!
We walked around in the Gastown district for a bit tonight.
The famous steam whistle clock.
This is the Vancouver harbour where the cruise ships come in.
